ABOUT US
Our belief is that despite their traumatic histories, the girls we serve have the capacity for health, a sense of well-being, and positive growth. Our core values support our goals of healing and rebuilding. Unconditional love and caring from staff members encourage healthy self-expression and positive conflict resolution while fostering a sense of family and belonging. This unique model puts each girl at the center of a nurturing environment, where an entire community of Project Return staff and volunteers come together to surround and support her.
History
Project Return is a proud accomplishment of a caring community that extends from Westport to numerous other cities and towns in Fairfield County.
Project Return began in 1983 when a group of concerned citizens, including healthcare professionals and educators, took action to help families in need. The group formed a Board of Directors and developed guidelines. The Town of Westport offered a renewable ten-year lease on a small farmhouse at 124 North Compo Road, in return for renovation of the home. It took three
years to renovate the house; in 1986 the doors opened. Since that time, we have provided a home to over 130 girls in crisis and have started our Aftercare Program, Transitional Living Facility, and our HEAL program. Project Return has also served as a resource to members of the community who seek counsel regarding difficulties with their adolescent daughters.
