Project Return Celebrates 25 Years In The Westport Community
More than 25 years ago a committee of concerned Westport residents and community leaders determined that there was a critical need for a therapeutic group home in Westport for teenage girls in crisis. Following three years of tireless grass root efforts on the part of countless community volunteers and donors, Project Return opened its doors in 1986. Now, twenty-five years later, Project Return has grown to serve girls and young women between the ages of 14-21 throughout the state of Connecticut who have been victims of abuse and neglect. |

The 100-year old farmhouse that became the Project Return house has been lovingly renovated over the years to provide a warm and welcoming homelike setting where residents experience a safe and nurturing environment, unconditional love, a sense of belonging, and the opportunity to hope and dream. During that time the agency has grown its programs and services to include Aftercare and Transitional Living Programs for alumnae, educational and vocational services, and a HEAL (Health, Empathy, Altruism, Love) after-school community service program for at-risk teens living locally. The agency’s core Residential Program has become a recognized model in the state.
